CEPA Aboriginal Relations

CEPA identified Aboriginal Relations as a priority for its member companies and subsequently directed its Standing Committee on Aboriginal Relations to develop two key policy initiatives: a framework document for Aboriginal consultation and engagement, as well as a framework for Aboriginal capacity building. A key objective for CEPA is to provide its member companies with the essential elements to guide consultation and capacity building activities with Aboriginal customers and communities.

CEPA began developing these framework documents in 2005 to help build a solid foundation upon which to build consultation and capacity building guidelines relevant to its member companies. CEPA’s Board of Directors approved the framework documents in December 2006.

The CEPA framework documents are a living document and as such, they may change as consultation legislation or policy within Canada evolves. We recommend that the user should refer back to the CEPA website from time to time for updates.
